Brief Note on Holy Prophet Jesus peace be upon him

Here is the complete English translation of the provided text:

Jesus (peace be upon him) is among the exalted and highly esteemed Messengers of Allah Almighty, counted among the Ulul 'Azm (Arch-Prophets/Messengers of Strong Will). As an essential part of their faith, all Muslims completely believe in Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), his prophethood, and the holy book revealed to him, the Injeel (Gospel). In the Holy Qur'an, his mention appears in numerous places with utmost respect and reverence. His blessed name is mentioned 25 times in the Holy Qur'an, while his titles "Ibn Maryam" (Son of Mary) and "Al-Maseeh" (The Messiah) appear dozens of times.

According to Islamic belief, Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is neither the son of God nor does He have any partner; rather, he is a noble servant and a true Messenger of Allah Almighty.

1. Blessed Birth and the Chastity of Maryam (peace be upon her)

The event of the birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is one of the greatest miracles in human history. His respected mother was Maryam (peace be upon her), who was dedicated to the service of Bait al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) and was an extremely pious and chaste woman.

By the command of Allah Almighty, Angel Gabriel (Jibrail, peace be upon him) came to Maryam in the form of a human and gave her the glad tidings of a pure son. Maryam asked in astonishment how she could have a son when no man had touched her, nor was she unchaste. Gabriel (peace be upon him) replied that this is easy for Allah, and Allah creates whatever He wills through the command of "Kun" (Be).

The birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) occurred without a father, purely through Divine power. After his birth, when Maryam brought the child to her people, they levelled severe allegations against her chastity. During this most difficult time, by the command of Allah Almighty, the newborn child (Jesus, peace be upon him) spoke from the cradle:

"He said: 'Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.'" (Surah Maryam)

This was his first miracle, which proved his mother's chastity and silenced the opponents.

2. Prophethood and Preaching

Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was sent for the guidance of the Children of Israel. His era of prophethood was a period of moral decline, religious stagnation, and superficial stratagems, where the Children of Israel had forgotten the commandments of the Torah, and religious leaders were using religion for personal gains.

Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) invited his people to the following fundamental teachings:

  • Pure Monotheism (Tawheed): Worship Allah alone and abstain from polytheism (Shirk).

  • Confirmation of Previous Prophets and the Torah: He confirmed Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) and the Torah, and eased certain strict rules contained within the Torah.

  • Glad Tidings of the Arrival of Ahmad (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ): He gave clear glad tidings to the Children of Israel regarding the arrival of the final Prophet after him, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

His helpers and true followers are called Al-Hawariyyun (The Disciples) in the Holy Qur'an, who fully supported him in propagating the true faith.

3. The Great Miracles of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him)

To support His noble Messenger, Allah Almighty granted him evident and unprecedented miracles, which are detailed in the Holy Qur'an:

  • Speaking in the Cradle: Testifying to his mother's chastity while still an infant.

  • Creating a Bird from Clay: Fashioning the shape of a bird out of clay and breathing into it, after which it became a living bird and flew away by Allah's permission.

  • Healing the Sick: Curing the congenitally blind and the leper simply by touching them, by the permission of Allah.

  • Raising the Dead: Restoring life to the dead by the command and permission of Allah.

  • Revealing Unseen Information: Telling people what they had eaten in their homes and what they had stored away.

  • The Descent of Al-Ma'idah (The Heavenly Table): The descent of a table laden with food from heaven upon the request of his disciples.

4. The Plot of the Jews and the Ascension to Heaven (Raf' al-Sama')

Seeing the growing popularity, truthfulness, and miracles of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), the religious scholars and rabbis of the Children of Israel became his bitter enemies. When they could not counter him with logic and argument, they complained to the Roman governor of the time, alleging that he was spreading rebellion.

The Jews devised a horrific plot to arrest him and crucify him. However, Allah Almighty made a miraculous arrangement for the protection of His Prophet.

The Holy Qur'an explicitly refutes the plot of the Jews and the doctrine of crucifixion in clear words:

"And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them... Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself." (Surah An-Nisa)

According to Islamic belief, Allah Almighty raised Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) alive with his physical body to heaven. The person who betrayed him or came to arrest him was made by Allah to resemble Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), and the Jews crucified that person thinking he was Jesus.

5. The Second Coming of Jesus (peace be upon him) Near the End of Times

In light of Islamic beliefs and sacred Traditions (Ahadith), Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) has not died yet; rather, he is alive in the second heaven. Near the end of times, when tribulations reach their peak in the world and the trial of Dajjal (the Antichrist) spreads, Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) will descend to this world again by the command of Allah Almighty.

Key Aspects of the Descent:

  • He will descend upon the white minaret on the eastern side of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus (Syria), resting his hands on the wings of two angels.

  • He will not return as an independent prophet with a new law, but as a follower (Ummati) of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and an adherent of the Islamic Sharia.

  • He will put an end to the trial of Dajjal and kill Dajjal at the location of Ludd (Lod).

  • He will break the cross, eliminate the swine, and abolish the Jizyah (poll tax).

  • During his era, the world will be filled with justice, peace, and blessings, and all false religions will come to an end except Islam.

  • After his descent, he will remain on Earth for a considerable time, marry, and after passing away naturally, he will be buried in Madinah alongside the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Conclusion

The blessed life and example of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) represent a shining chapter of faith, asceticism, piety, and divine miracles for humanity. As Muslims, believing in his greatness and purity is a foundational part of our faith. The message of Prophet Jesus's life is one of love, peace, and the Oneness of Allah, and his descent near the end of times signifies victory and the ultimate triumph of the Truth for the Muslim community.
